Who is Baptist World Aid Australia?
Baptist World Aid Australia is a not-for-profit Christian organisation, committed to empowering the world’s poor to lift themselves out of poverty.
For 50 years we have been serving poor communities both in Australia and overseas through SAO Children, Commit to Community projects and through relief and support in emergency situations.
Baptist World Aid Australia recognises that people living in poverty are trapped because they lack access to adequate resources and opportunities. Our work is designed to address this – equipping poor families and their communities to tackle to root causes of poverty affecting them and enjoy the life of well-being that God intends for them.

Baptist World Aid Australia will have shared its resources with the oppressed and powerless to enable them to lift themselves out of poverty and to live with dignity in communities of justice and peace.

Using the contributions of Australian Baptists and others, we work through partners to empower the poor and oppressed to lift themselves out of poverty and cope with emergencies.

The Code requires members to meet high standards of corporate governance, public accountability, and financial management. Baptist World Aid Australia is also accredited with the Australian Government’s aid and development agency, AusAID. This means that Baptist World Aid Australia is eligible to receive funding from the government and must meet strict financial, reporting and project requirements.
