Naomi's Story

Naomi* is 14 and enjoying the light of a new life after she was rescued from the dark world of India’s sex trade.

Investigators from Baptist World Aid Australia’s partner, International Justice Mission (IJM), uncovered a trafficker’s plans to sell Naomi and other young girls into child prostitution. In a sting operation conducted with Mumbai police, IJM rescued the girls as the transaction to sell them took place. IJM’s legal team ensured those adults responsible – including Naomi’s uncle – were convicted and jailed.

Naomi now lives in the safety of a loving aftercare home, and for the first time in her life is attending school. Her favourite part of her education is learning to make intricate and beautiful jewellery, a skill which will also help her earn an income in the future.

Baptist World Aid Australia needs your support to bring life and hope to more children like Naomi.
