Issue 4, 2011 - Belonging
Christmas is a time of joy, celebration and giving thanks to God with family and friends.
But for many people across our world, being part of a celebration like this is very far from their experience. For the extremely poor, for those with disabilities, for those stigmatised because of illness, and sometimes for women, who are restricted to the home, there is often no loving community to belong to. This edition of Community Beat explores exclusion and belonging, and how being part of a community is an essential part of people experiencing the wellbeing that God intends for them.
As we celebrate the great gift of Jesus to us at Christmas, let’s also remember those who are lonely and isolated and pray for our partners overseas as they seek to love and welcome the rejected into a place where they can belong.
