Welcome to Baptist World Aid Australia

Christmas Appeal 2011 WhIt's not too lateat does Jesus want for His Birthday?

At Baptist World Aid Australia this Christmas, we are asking the question, what does Jesus want? After all, it is His birthday...

Jesus said, “I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me...Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.” Matthew 25:35-40

Jesus is very clear in this passage and throughout His teachings that He wants His people to go out of their way to provide for the needs of those who are struggling. He wants us to reach out to those in need and when we do, He says that this will be as if we are giving directly to Jesus himself.

This Christmas, you can help the hungry, the thirsty, the lonely and the sick, by giving to Baptist World Aid Australia’s Christmas Appeal.

The Christmas Appeal supports our community development projects. These projects focus on helping families overcome the causes of their poverty, empowering them to build a happier and healthier future.

When you give to the Christmas Appeal, you will be helping people, like Mani...

Mani’s Story With access to clean water, Mani and his family enjoy much better health.

Mani lives with his family in a remote community in Nepal.

They had no access to safe water, so he and his family had no choice but to drink from an unclean stream. This same stream provided all the water for washing, cleaning clothes and watering the animals.

Mani and his family were often sick, missing precious days of work and school. One year, the whole community caught cholera from contaminated water and 13 people died.

These are the very real, and sadly, very common effects of poverty.

When Baptist World Aid Australia’s partner, International Nepal Fellowship (INF), came to his village, Mani learned that it was the water that was making his family ill and costing him so much in medical bills. Along with the INF facilitator, he convinced the rest of his savings group that addressing the water problem was important and together they installed a water pump in the village. “Now I have seen that my family members are not getting sick as they did in the past and I am saving my money, I can use my money for my kids,” he said joyfully.
