Asia Pacific in Crisis – Baptist World Aid Australia’s Response
Over the past few months, natural disasters in Indonesia and the Philippines have caused significant loss of life and damage to buildings and livelihoods.
THANK YOU!
Thanks to your generosity, Baptist World Aid Australia’s partner organisations have been working among affected communities to respond to the immediate needs of those who have been injured and displaced and to begin the massive reconstruction effort needed. Over $100,000 was donated to our appeal for emergency relief funds, enough to fund the planned project activities of our partners in both countries.
In Indonesia, our partner, CFK, has been distributing emergency supplies of food, water and temporary shelter to those who have lost everything. Medical clinics have also been visiting affected communities and treating injuries and other medical conditions. This service has been appreciated as many clinics were destroyed in the earthquake and medical services are stretched.
In the Philippines, over 1000 families have received relief goods of food, clothing and other essentials like sleeping mats from our partner SAO Philippines. Medical and dental treatment has been provided and everyone in the working areas was offered the opportunity to receive counselling. Particular emphasis has been placed on meeting children’s needs with 700 children receiving shoes and food, and toys and play items given to two communities.
Thank you for your support and prayers. Please continue to pray for the well-being of those affected by these disasters, and that the rebuilding process would be smooth and swift.
