$1.40 Challenge
Where will you spend your money?

The Challenge: Spend no more than $1.40 for lunch
Baptist World Aid Australia staff and volunteers are taking the $1.40 challenge on Thursday 9th September. With a budget of just $1.40, each person will put together their midday meal and see how far they can make their money go.
Although $1.40 is likely to produce meagre lunches for the staff, when this amount is spent overseas through Baptist World Aid Australia’s child sponsorship program, SAO Children, it can make a life-changing difference to children living in poverty.
Through SAO Children, your $1.40 a day will support community development programs which transform the child’s whole community:
- Children will receive training in skills and leadership, building them up into change makers for their community;
- Parents will learn more about healthcare and nutrition and about starting projects to increase their income;
- Communities will be empowered to support one another and work with local governments and business to provide better education and facilities;
- And much more...
All these things mean that children can live in a safer environment with opportunities for a stronger future.
